The colours, type, logo and layout that make an Inkstone surface look like Inkstone — Direction C in the Extrafemi Labs family. Use it as the single source of truth when building the landing, the welcome flow, or the tool's own chrome. Each customer workspace re-themes on top of this — see Workspaces.
An inkstone is the slate slab where you grind an ink stick with water before you write. The mark is that moment — one drop, just released, above the ground ink in the well. The wordmark is inkstone set in the display face, lowercase, with a raised dot for the superscript.
Paper and black do the work. Ink-blue is the one voice colour — links, the drop, key words in a headline. Lime is the pop — one CTA block, one highlighted row, never body text. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
The pixel-diffusion motif — ink spreading into paper. Ink-blue squares fading in, one lime. Decorative only; never behind text.
The headline face is the system Helvetica/Arial stack — no web font, so it loads instantly and matches the Labs house look. DM Sans carries everything else — body copy, and every label, eyebrow, citation and button, set uppercase and letter-spaced rather than in a separate face. No monospace anywhere on the site.
Big, tight, uppercase. The last phrase of a headline takes Ink Blue (or Lime on dark). System stack: no load, no fallback flash.
Running text, sub-heads inside cards, list items. ~65 characters a line, 1.6 leading.
Eyebrows, section numbers, spec rows, citations, buttons. Uppercase, letter-spaced. This is the texture that says "checkable".
Sections are solid colour blocks stacked edge to edge — paper, black, ink-blue, ink-blue-deep, lime, near-black. Inside a block, structure is drawn with 1 px borders in Black (or white on dark). Nothing is rounded. CTAs are big underlined text links, not buttons; nav and utility actions use the small mono outline button.
After sign-in, a provisioned workspace loads its own colours, type and logo — pulled from that team's live site. Inkstone's own chrome (this system) is what a person without a provisioned domain sees, and it's the co-brand mark in every workspace footer. The rows below are illustrative.
